Coaching And Consultation
My coaching and consultation services are designed for individuals worldwide who seek structured, goal-oriented support without the need for therapy. I offer these services in person in Bellingham, WA, or via telehealth.
APPROACH
While coaching is informed by my doctoral psychological training, they are distinct from therapy in that we do not directly treat mental health symptoms—language drawn from Washington state law. This means our work focuses on insight, strategy, and skill-building around your goals, rather than clinical treatment. If at any point, in my clinical opinion, your primary concerns are better treated through therapy, I will inform you of this and help you find an appropriate mental health worker for such work. I keep a firm boundary between my therapy and coaching work so as to practice as ethically as possible.
While some clients prefer to meet weekly at the beginning, I often find that sessions every other week, paired with targeted exercises and reflection between meetings, offer the right balance of momentum and integration. Many clients see meaningful results in only a handful of sessions, depending on the scope of their goals.
FOCUS AND SPECIALTY
We can address a wide range of topics, from navigating complex personal or professional situations to developing new habits, clarifying values, and improving relationships. Much of my coaching and consultation work involves religious or spirituality-related concerns, including spiritual abuse/religious trauma, major changes in belief or practice, and the impact of these changes on identity, family, and career. However, our work is not limited to religious issues, and I regularly work with clients on broader challenges such as life transitions, decision-making, and personal development.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Clients describe me as approachable, engaged, casual, and direct. My background includes two decades as a professional musician, during which I developed a unique ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and to foster rapport quickly and authentically. In session, you can expect a collaborative atmosphere where your perspective is valued, your autonomy is respected, and our work is always aimed at meaningful, concrete progress.
